Welcome

Growing up near the tulip fields in the Netherlands, flowers have always been part of my life. As a child I would cycle to the local grower and ask for his offcuts to make flower arrangements. I considered going to flower school aged 12, but didn't quite get there until decades later, as I first pursued a career in research and consultancy.

After living and working in India, the opportunity to do a Masters in Development Studies at the University of Cambridge brought me to the UK in 2008. It was in Cambridge where I arranged my first friends’ weddings in one of the colleges and I've been doing that ever since.

I trained and worked at Judith Blacklock flower school, before founding Battersea Bloem.  As a florist I've had the privilege to create arrangements in some of London's iconic locations, such as the Reform club, the Lanesborough hotel, the Belvedere and Trinity House, but I'm just as happy creating flowers for small low key events. Having moved back to Cambridge I feel immensely lucky to have a gorgeous flower studio, where I host workshops and prepare events flowers, most recently for some of the University Colleges. I am very passionate about using sustainable floristry methods and where possible use flowers from a local flower grower just outside of Cambridge.
